An advert sells you a product; we entrust you a member of our family, with its story, its papers, and our support for the rest of its life.
Bloodlines from the finest catteries of Europe and Russia
Hugcoon did not start with the nearest available catteries. Our line was built from the finest catteries of Europe and Russia: the rarest coats we work, the silvers and the smokes, descend from the Maine Coon of Switzerland, the Maine Coon of Poland and the Maine Coon of Norway, and Russian Maine Coon lines run in our pedigrees as well. We travelled, visited breeders and studied pedigrees until we found the lines we wanted to build on, kept strong by a deliberately low inbreeding rate. That selection is exactly what comes home with you: the parents behind your kitten were chosen cat by cat, never ordered from a catalogue. Size, type and health: the fundamentals
A Hugcoon kitten stands on the three pillars the breed demands. Size: we do not offer "XL", "XXL", "XXXL" or "giant" Maine Coons, because no such variety exists in any registry and selling one would be a commercial lie. What we do work with are truly superb statures: size is a breeding priority in our program, proven by our cats, never by a label. Type: strong bone, a long muscular body, the square muzzle and the lynx-tipped ears the standard asks for; a beautiful Maine Coon is well built and harmonious, never simply a heavy cat. Health: every breeding cat is DNA tested and followed with heart and kidney ultrasounds, and our queens raise at most one litter per year to respect their rhythm. Genetic diseases: what our testing rules out
Enthusiasts know the weak points of the breed, so let us name them precisely. Every breeding cat at Hugcoon is DNA tested before entering the program:
- HCM, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM1 test): the most common heart disease in the Maine Coon. Our cats are tested for the mutation identified in the breed, and because DNA alone never tells the whole story of a heart, they are also followed with heart ultrasounds.
- SMA, spinal muscular atrophy: a muscle-wasting disease of kittens. It is recessive: with two tested parents, it is ruled out entirely, and no kitten of ours can be affected.
- PKDef, pyruvate kinase deficiency: an inherited anaemia. Recessive as well: tested parents eliminate it from the litter.
- PKD, polycystic kidney disease: cysts that slowly destroy the kidneys. With DNA-negative parents it does not pass to the kittens, and our cats are followed with kidney ultrasounds on top.
- Blood group typing: matching our queens and studs by blood group rules out neonatal incompatibility, a silent killer of newborn kittens in untested matings.
That is what "health tested" means when a cattery says it seriously: named diseases, named tests, and results available on request with the pedigree.
From our first video call to your door in Dubai
An adoption with us is accompanied from start to finish, and it stays close even from another continent. From the birth onwards, you follow your kitten on WhatsApp: photos, videos and news at every stage, plus video calls where you meet the kitten, its parents and us. We tell you honestly about its character as it reveals itself, week after week, so your kitten matches your family and not just a photo. When the time comes, a professional animal transporter prepares the UAE import permit and the veterinary file, and the journey is planned around the season and the kitten's comfort. Each adoption is a true adventure, and a human one, shared from the very first message: even before you reserve, you can talk things over and meet, on the spot in Dubai, one of our transporters: people who are like family to us, trained in animal transport. You can speak with them directly before the departure to prepare the journey together. When your kitten lands, you choose how to live that moment: welcome it yourself at the airport, or have it brought directly to your home. A chain of familiar hands from our home to yours, never a parcel waiting at a cargo desk. Why a European cattery rather than a pet shop
Pet shops and online marketplaces in the UAE sell kittens; a cattery raises them. Ours grow up in our house, in the middle of family life: socialised and handled from their first days, living with our children, our golden retriever and the everyday sounds of a real home, vacuum cleaner included. Temperament always comes before colour when we match a kitten to a family. Our Google reviews rate the cattery Excellent, and fellow breeders have entrusted cats to our breeding program, which says more than any advert. Every kitten leaves with its official LOOF pedigree, microchip, vaccinations, a veterinary health certificate and a written contract. Those papers follow the cat for life, wherever it lives.
Rare coats you will not find in a shop window
Our specialty is the silvered and smoked European Maine Coon: black smoke (ns), blue smoke (as), high smoke, black silver shaded (ns 11) and silver shell, also called chinchilla (ns 12). From early 2027, our polydactyl program adds kittens from Baguera, PP 6666, and BoraBora, PP 7766: coats and toes you will simply not find in a shop window in the Emirates.
The polydactyl Maine Coon: Hemingway's six-toed legend
The polydactyl Maine Coon is born with extra toes, a natural trait as old as the breed itself, recognised by TICA under the code MCP, and made famous by Ernest Hemingway and the six-toed cats that still live at his home in Key West. It is spectacular, it is rare, and it is part of our program: our founding polydactyl male, Aribo PP, is now retired, and our two polydactyl queens, Baguera, PP 6666, and BoraBora, PP 7766, start in early 2027. Prices for Dubai and the Emirates
Our kittens for the UAE start at 3,000 euros, which is around AED 12,000. The exact figure for each kitten depends on the rarity of its coat and on the pairing behind it; we quote every kitten individually. The journey to Dubai is quoted separately, and the reservation is confirmed with a signed reservation contract and a 30% deposit, with photos, videos and video calls while your kitten grows.
